Structural Engineer - Naperville, IL or Charleston, IL

ESI Consultants, Ltd. has an opening for an experienced Structural Engineer in our Naperville, Illinois or Charleston, Illinois office. This person must be an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual capable of managing, planning and designing a variety of structural assignments associated with our transportation and utilities projects. The structural components may include bridges, retaining walls, small buildings, industrial conveyor systems, underground utility structures or other miscellaneous structures. This position will include the inspection of bridges following the National Bridge Inspection Standards.

Experience and Skills:

  • Familiar with national building codes, AASHTO design criteria (LFD and LRFD), and State of Illinois Department of Transportation design standards.
  • BS in Civil/Structural Engineering, preferably MS.
  • 10-20 years of experience with a variety of project assignments.
  • Illinois Professional Engineering license in good standing.
  • Illinois Structural Engineering license in good standing.
  • Strong technical skills in structural analysis and design of a variety of structures as specified above.
  • Capable of a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good management skills with the understanding of budgets and project schedules.
  • Ability to determine budget estimates and staffing requirements.
  • Capable of working independently, however coordinates well with other team members and has good interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with business development activities with an emphasis on structural services.
  • Successfully completed the Federal Highway Administration bridge inspection course NHI Course # 130055. Additional certifications are a plus.
  • Valid Illinois Driver’s license

Project Engineer/Transportation/Civil

We are seeking a qualified Project Engineer with 3 – 5 years of relevant experience. In this role, the ideal candidate
  • Provides planning, design, and construction inspection services support to the Project Engineer and/or Resident Engineer.
  • Assists in client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
  • Assists in the development of probable construction cost estimates for his/her projects within the department.
  • Assists in the analysis of reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and data to plan and design projects.
  • Prepares design computations and quantity estimates.
  • Assists in the preparation or modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, permits and designs for project.
  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with Microstation, GeoPak and AutoCad is desired
  • Requires a Bachelors Degree in Engineering and 3-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • PE (or working toward PE) desired

Engineering Intern

  • The Engineering Intern provides support to the Project Engineers and/or Resident Engineers for planning, design, and construction inspection services on projects such as roadways, bridges, water and sewer, railroads, and subdivisions.
  • This position may also be responsible for providing CADD assistance on projects assigned.
  • Candidates should have 2-3 years in a civil engineering or related field program at the college level.

Resident/Construction Engineer – Naperville/Chicago

We are seeking qualified Resident and Construction Engineers for our Naperville/Chicago office. Experience in public works and transportation projects (IDOT / ISTHA/CDOT) is a must. In this role, the ideal candidate:

  • Provides planning design and construction services on projects such as roadways, bridges, water and sewer, railroads, and subdivisions
  • Responsibilities include managing project personnel and material needs, providing daily observation and documentation of contractor’s work, managing project submittals correspondence and change orders, providing contractor pay estimates and project closeout
  • Provides support services to the Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer for design and construction projects
  • Familiar with a variety of the field concepts, practices, and procedures
Requirements:
  • Licensed Professional Engineer preferred
  • Prior experience with CDOT, IDOT and ISHTA
  • Minimum 8 years of experience preferred

Project Engineer – Naperville, IL

We are seeking qualified Project Engineers. Experience with highway planning and design preferred. This position is based in Naperville, Illinois. Applicant must be a licensed Professional Engineer with a minimum of 8 years of experience preferred.


Water and Wastewater Engineer/Project Manager

Seeking a Project Manager that has 10+ years experience with a Water and Wastewater specialty, working with both the public and private sectors. The ideal candidate should have planning, design, permitting, and construction management experience. Good communication skills required to interface with contractors, subcontractors, public agencies, local business and residents. Knowledge of IEPA low-interest loan program, the permitting process, and water modeling experience desired. B.S. in Civil Engineering and a P.E. license is required.
